White denim has always been a fashion favorite, but just hasn’t made the seasonally flexible footprint that blue denim has. Many may argue that white clothing is spring/summer wear and back that claim with the common phrase, “You don’t wear white after Labor Day!” But when it comes to white denim, it’s a different story.
The versatility of white denim can be easily noted as its stand out attribute. It can effortlessly be dressed up or down; making the transition from day-to-night looks a cinch. In fact, nearly 70 percent of respondents to the Cotton Incorporated Lifestyle MonitorTM survey stated that they would prefer to wear denim jeans instead of slacks. With white denim, you get such a crisp, rich appearance that it tends to look dressier and more distinguished than regular denim often does.
Today’s fashion fore-minded consumer is practically indoors and in climate-controlled environments so much that there’s less of an urge for bulky clothing that can only be worn during wintry months. In addition, as weather patterns seemingly become more homogenous, the seasonality of white denim lessens in importance. Unless it’s a down winter coat or a lightweight cotton dress, most people just do not have much uniquely seasonal clothing in their wardrobes anymore.
Most consumers enjoy keeping up with denim styles and are usually looking for something new in their favorite styles. With that said, denim lovers are also looking to maintain the vibrant nature of their wardrobes year-round, without sacrificing qualities that they’ve come to enjoy about denim.
