OFFICIAL CONTEST RULES


    NO PURCHASE NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN. VOID IN PUERTO RICO AND WHERE PROHIBITED OR RESTRICTED BY LAW.

  1. Entry: To enter, complete and submit your entry form online at the www.thefabricofourlives.com Web site (the “Web site”), along with your authentic story about living green with cotton. To be eligible for this contest, your entry must: (i) tell us how cotton is a key part of your eco-friendly and socially responsible lifestyle; (ii) not be created or submitted if you are under a contractual, employment or other obligation to any other individual or entity to provide the types of materials solicited hereunder as a part of an exclusive obligation, first right of refusal, or other similar restriction, (iii) be the original, previously unpublished, and non-infringing story of the entrant; and (iv) not include any elements that are illegal, obscene, contain racial, ethnic, religious, or sexual derogatory characterizations or slurs or are offensive or inappropriate, as determined by Sponsor in Sponsors’ sole discretion. Your story must be 500 words or less in length, must be true and must accurately depict one or more of your ongoing green practices. Modifying, enhancing or altering a pre-existing work does not qualify as an original creation or submission. Contest ends at 11:59 a.m. ET November 3, 2008. Entry must be in English. Limit one entry per person. In the event of a dispute over the identity of an online contestant, the winner will be the Authorized Account Holder of the email address submitted on the online entry form. “Authorized Account Holder” means the natural person who is assigned to an email address by an Internet access provider, online service provider, or other organization that is responsible for assigning e-mail addresses for the domain associated with the submitted e-mail address. No automatic, programmed, robotic or similar means of entry are permitted. Sponsor and Operator is Cotton Incorporated, 6399 Weston Parkway, Cary, North Carolina, 27513. Once submitted, entries become the exclusive property of Sponsor and will not be returned. Winner must exclusively license the winning entry to Sponsor until December 31, 2009.   2. Eligibility: Open only to U.S. residents of the fifty states and the District of Columbia, excluding Rhode Island, who, as of date of entry, are 18 years of age or older. Employees and agents of Sponsor, its affiliates, shareholders, officers, printers, distributors, advertising agencies, and prize suppliers, and their immediate family members and persons residing in the same household of such employees are not eligible to enter or win this Contest.


  3. Judging and Judging Criteria: A panel of qualified judges appointed by the Sponsor will review all eligible entries and will select the winner whose submission has the highest point total based on the following criteria: original (60%) and adoptable/easy to implement (40%). In the event of a tie, the winning entry will be the entry among the tied entries which is the most original in the sole determination of the judges.


  4. Prize: On or around December 15, 2008, Sponsor will award one (1) Grand prize consisting of a $500 Gap Gift Card. No prize substitutions or cash equivalent of prize is permitted except at Sponsor’s sole discretion, and then only for a prize of equal or greater value. Winner is responsible for all taxes on prizes and expenses, including, without limitation, federal, state and local sales and income taxes, luxury taxes and any other costs incurred in claiming or using the prize. Potential winner will be notified by phone, mail or e-mail. If any prize notification is returned as undeliverable, or if winner does not respond to notification within five (5) days of the date of notification, prize will be forfeited and the entry with the next highest score will become an alternate winner. Except where prohibited by law, potential winner will be required to complete, sign and return an Affidavit of Eligibility/Ownership/Liability Release and Publicity Release (the “Affidavit”) within fourteen (14) days of notification in order to receive the prize. (Tennessee residents need not consent to, or sign any, publicity release.). In the event of noncompliance with these requirements, the prize will be forfeited and the entry with the next highest score will become an alternate winner. Unclaimed prizes may not be awarded. Prize will be delivered to winner’s residence listed on the entry form.


  5. General: Entrants agree: (a) that entries can not be used by entrant (or others) for any commercial purpose other than to enter this Contest, (b) to be bound by these Official Rules and by the decisions of the judges, which are final and binding in all respects, (c) to be contacted by Sponsor by mail, email or telephone, (d) to be bound by the privacy policy applicable to the Web site, and (e) that Sponsor may post, use, reuse, publish and re-publish in whole or in part, edited or unedited, without restrictions as to changes or alterations, entries, including winner’s name and/or likeness, address (city and state only), and prize information, in any and all media now existing or hereafter devised for illustration, promotion, art, editorial, advertising, trade or any other purpose whatsoever, in perpetuity, without attribution, notification, compensation or consents (except where prohibited by law). By participating, entrants release Sponsor, its affiliates, shareholders, officers, printers, distributors, advertising agencies and prize suppliers, and their employees, agents, and consultants, from any and all liability for any injury, death, loss, tax liability or damage of any kind arising from entrant’s participation in this Contest, or resulting from acceptance, possession, use, or misuse of any prize. Failure to comply with these Official Rules may result in disqualification from the Contest. Sponsor reserves the right to: (i) disqualify from this or any promotion it sponsors, now or in the future, any person it finds, in its sole discretion, has intentionally violated these official rules, tampered with the entry process, the operation of this Contest or Web site; (ii) modify, suspend or terminate the Contest in the event it becomes infected by a computer virus or is otherwise technically impaired; and (iii) cancel or suspend the Contest in its entirety should tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures or other causes beyond Sponsor’s control corrupt the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper play of the Contest. Subject to all federal, state and local laws and regulations. Sponsor is not responsible for: (1) late, delayed, incomplete, damaged, delayed, destroyed, garbled, incomplete, mutilated, misdirected, illegible or lost entries, (2) incorrect or inaccurate transcription of entry or story information; (3) any human error, technical malfunctions, or lost-delayed data transmission; (4) any omission, interruption, deletion, defect, or line failures of any telephone network, computer equipment, or software; or (5) inability to access any web site or online service, or any other error or malfunction. In such event, Sponsor shall award the prize to the contestant with the highest score from all eligible entries received prior to the date of cancellation or suspension. Information collected from contestants is subject to Sponsor’s privacy policy available on the Website.


  6. Entrant Representations and Warranties. By entering this Contest, entrant represents and warrants that (a) he/she is the sole and exclusive owner of the entry and all rights therein; (b) he/she consents to Sponsors’ use of his/her entry in this Contest in the manner set forth in these Official Rules; (c) he/she has the full and exclusive right, power and authority to submit the entry and to grant Sponsor the rights to the Submission herein granted upon the terms and conditions set forth herein; (d) no part of the entry has been published; (e) entrants has not granted any rights in the entry to any person, corporation or other entity; and (f) will indemnify and hold Cotton harmless for any breach of these Official Rules.


  7. WARNING. ANY ATTEMPT BY A CONTESTANT OR ANY OTHER PERSON TO DELIBERATELY DAMAGE THE WEB SITE OR UNDERMINE THE LEGITIMATE OPERATION OF THIS CONTEST MAY BE A VIOLATION OF CRIMINAL AND CIVIL LAWS; AND SHOULD SUCH AN ATTEMPT BE MADE, SPONSOR RESERVES THE RIGHT TO SEEK REMEDIES AND DAMAGES (INCLUDING ATTORNEYS’ FEES) FROM ANY SUCH CONTESTANT OR OTHER PERSON TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, INCLUDING SEEKING CRIMINAL PROSECUTION.
