Father’s Day
Tie Napkin Fold

Toss the traditional and trim your table
with this necktie napkin fold

Materials:

  • A set of eager hands
  • Cotton napkin
  • Iron

Instructions:

1. Begin by laying an open cotton napkin facedown. Place the napkin diagonally, so that one of the corners point to you.

2. Begin to fold the napkin into thirds.

3. Starting at the upper tip, fold the right side about 1/3 of the way diagonally to the left. Do not press the fold down yet.

4. Repeat step three with the left side, ending with both sides symmetrical. Now press down the folds. Make sure the overlap is even and the tip of the tie is centered.

5. Fold the right side in about 1/3 of the way starting from the upper tip, repeating the last two steps. Do not press. Be sure to keep the fold and tip of tie centered.

6. Repeat the last fold along the left side maintaining symmetry. The napkin should now be similar in width to a tie. Press the folds down.

7. Take the thin point of the napkin and fold to the right so that the tip of the tie is perpendicular to the lower part.

8. Turn the tie over so that the tip points to the left. This will become the knot of the tie.

9. Wrap the tip around the top of the tie and tuck it in underneath to create the knot. This will form a very loose knot.

10. Carefully shape and tighten the knot until you are satisfied. Your tie is now ready to be displayed for your Father’s Day table setting. Enjoy!
