DORM ROOM DECORATING 101
Well, you finally made it to college. After tackling registration and orientation it’s time for decorating your new home away from home—as in your dorm room. And yes, it's all about you, so choose colors and designs that reflect your personality and tastes. Below, the experts at Cotton Incorporated have gathered some simple and practical tips for putting together your dorm home decor.

BUDGET The last thing that you want to bring to college is debt. Decide how much you want to spend on your dorm room decor and stick to it. Sometimes this allows for a better overall design because it forces you to be selective.
COLOR By choosing your colors
first you will be able to narrow your search for the perfect items. Coordinated colors and patterns will also give your dorm room decor a more pulled together and sophisticated look.

STORAGE Having the proper storage in a room that has to act as a study, bedroom, entertainment space, and a dressing room takes some extra planning. Cotton canvas storage bins that can break down and can stack on top of one another are perfect for under the bed and in high areas of your closet. They are also great for storing off-season clothes and look better for the over-all dorm decor.
BEDDING Your bed will definitely be the largest piece of furniture in the room so make it a focal point. The popular, and economical, bed-in-a-bag gives you everything you need for a perfectly coordinated ensemble: comforter, sheets, pillowcases, bedskirt and pillow shams. To ensure the most comfortable night's sleep, buy 100% cotton sheets. They're easy to care for and feel amazing!
TOWELS Even though you might have to share a bathroom with 20 other people, it doesn't mean that you can't have nice things to carry with you to the showers. Consider brightly colored cotton towels or towels with designs or your name on them so yours won't get mixed up with someone else's.
ACCESSORIES It's the little touches that will make your dorm room a home away from home. Buy decorative cotton pillows in different colors, patterns and sizes that tie in to your color scheme. Large ones can be used to prop yourself up during those mid-term all nighters. Cotton throws are warm and comfy.
LAUNDRY Make laundry day stress-free by using a multi-bin sorter for each category (whites, darks, sheets and towels, etc.) and buy some colorful cotton canvas laundry bags. You never know who you might run into at the laundromat, so don't be caught dragging your laundry around in your old GI Joe pillowcase.

These are just a few things to get your dorm decor handled so you can focus on what’s important on the campus.
