Cheap Dorm Décor
Decorate Your Dorm Without Depleting Your College Savings
Headed to college this fall? Looking for some tips and tricks on how to create a comfortable yet trendy home away from home – on a tight budget, in an even tighter space? We’ve got you covered. When decorating your dorm, just remember one rule: keep it cheap and simple.
Keep it Together
When decorating your dorm, it’s important to try and maximize the limited amount of space you have. The key to doing this is finding creative ways to store your possessions and organize the room’s furniture. Multifunctional furniture and under-the-bed storage will help you minimize clutter, and closet organizers will keep you looking put-together.
Give it a Rest
To liven things up, decorate your dorm with comfortable cotton bedding in punchy colors. Invest in a set of good quality cotton sheets: they’re machine washable, so they’ll be able to withstand the wear and tear of dorm life, and they’re soft too. Avoid complicated patterns on your bedding as they can become overwhelming in a small space. Cotton throw pillows, however, are an inexpensive way to add color and patterns to a drab dorm room.
Cut a Rug
Colorful cotton area rugs warm up bare floors; be sure to pick one with a bright, busy print that will hide any dirt or stains.
We’ve got spirit, yes we do!
Show your school pride by decorating your dorm with your university’s team colors. Depending on your level of enthusiasm, you can show your spirit through something as small as a pennant to something as large as your bedspread or a beanbag chair.
